CCCADI hosts Mambo Marie Carme

As part of the exhibit Standing with Papa Legba: Vodou at the Crossroads, CCCADI hosted an evening with Mambo Marie Carme. Carme, who lives in Brooklyn, is a Vodou practitioner. She gave a brief overview of Vodou as well her personal journey to Vodou. She also discussed the concepts and misconcpetions of Vodou, the misconceptions of their practices and the lack of community in the Vodou Community. Carmel is part of a book, Vodou Brooklyn, Five Ceremonies with Mambo Marie Carme, by Stephanie Keith, which features photos of her parties.Standing with Papa Legba is part of Re-Imagining Haiti a collaborative exhibit between both CCCADI and MoCADA on view until May 8th.
