“Today, I Am Muslim Too” Rally – March 6th

This past sunday, the “Today I Am Muslim Too” rally was held in Times Square. Even in the cold rain, supporters of all religious backgrounds came out and stood in solidarity with Muslim and Arab Americans. The rally is in response to Peter King’s (R-NY) upcoming hearings on “homegrown Islamic terrorism” that will target Muslim and Arabs Americans. Speakers at the rally included various Ministers and Rabbis, representatives from the Buddhist and Atheist beliefs, as well as Hip-hop Mogul Russell Simmons, entertainer Jim Jones, Filmmaker Qasim Basir and Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN).

“Patriotism is standing up for your country when its right and correcting it when it’s wrong.” – the MC

“Hip-hop stands for all muslims and I am muslim for today.” – Jim Jones
