Last night, the Haiti Cultural Exchange hosted Gran Moun Pale: A Tribute to Cedor at the Affirmation Arts Galleryin NYC. The evening included a showing of the documentary Cedor , a film about acclaimed Haitian artist Dieudonne Cedor. The documentary, by filmmaker Arnold Antonin, chronicled Cedor’s artistic method as well as a brief glimpse into his life. After the screening, there was a panel discussion lead by artist Andre Juste and art historian Michel Phillipe Lerebours. Juste gave a compare and contrast in regard to the work of Cedor and other artists. Lerebours, who knew Cedor, gave insight in the importance of Cedor’s art and his contribution to the Haitian art community.
